The Gift of Stillness: Returning to Peace Through Self-Care and Self-Love

From the time I became self-employed until just the last few months, I worked seven days a week trying to keep up with the demands of work and life. I found it difficult to sit still and allow myself moments of quiet, peace, and stillness without focusing on what remained undone.

I have always appreciated the timing of events and synchronicities in my life. As I began desiring more time to write and share through my blog, opportunities arose that lessened my workload. At the same time, the Walk for Peace was progressing, and I found that it affected me deeply to finally claim and say the words:

“I deserve Peace.”

Although there may always be things to do, they will still be there later.

As we embody more of our Presence, we begin walking more consistently in Peace and living from the stillness within. We witness life rather than react to it, and our actions arise more naturally from Being. Yet this is a transition. We still have jobs, homes, families, friends, and responsibilities that require our time and energy.

As we move toward a more constant and balanced alignment with Unity, we may find ourselves moving in and out of Peace and Stillness until they eventually become the foundation beneath all we do and say.

During this time, it is important to find moments of quiet for yourself.

I realize this can be difficult for those with demanding jobs, children, pets, or other responsibilities. Begin simply. When you notice yourself feeling out of alignment, pause. Place your hand upon your heart and say:

“I AM HERE.”

This simple declaration calls your awareness back to the Oneness present within your life. Breathe that awareness into the world around you.

Set the intention that more time opens for quiet stillness while still honoring your family, your work, and your responsibilities. Allow yourself to imagine what truly nourishes your soul and brings you peace.

You might begin each day by affirming:

“Today is my peaceful day.”

And when you say, “I AM HERE,” you may also add:

“I return to Peace.”

This is not always a quick or easy process. For me, it took nearly ten years to arrive at a place where I no longer felt overwhelmed by everything that needed to be done or by the feeling that there was never enough time.

That does not mean it will take as long for you.

What matters is that you hold your intention, state it clearly, and then allow yourself to trust the unfolding of Oneness.

And when a few quiet moments finally arrive, remember that you do not have to immediately fill them with another task.

You are allowed to rest.

You are allowed to be still.

You are allowed to simply BE.

May you remember that peace is not something you earn through effort, nor a reward granted when all tasks are complete. It is a living presence within you, waiting to be welcomed. May you give yourself permission to rest, to breathe, and to simply Be. And when life becomes noisy, may your heart gently remind you: I AM HERE. I return to Peace.
